About Me
- Name: Qi
- Location: Philadelphia, Pa., United States
The author has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, CourtTV, ABCNews, NBC's Today Show and the CBS Evening News. Despite impoverishment, the author agreed to represent the defendant in State of New Jersey v. Kenneth Powell, an internationally covered murder trial in New Jersey. The author was homeless at several points during the nearly six-month-long trial phase. In January 2003, during Mr. Powell's second trial, the author had to run a shower in a semi-abandoned office building to keep from freezing to death. The author slept on a floor in that office building. The building had no heat. Even so, the author persisted. Numerous disbarment threats by State of New Jersey political party members were made against the author during the trials. The victim, Ensign John Elliot, had family closely alligned with United States Senator Jon Corzine. The disbarment threats originated from members of Mr. Corzine's political party - including former candidates for the state Legislature and family members of one regional party chairman. After two trials, all charges against Mr. Powell were dismissed.
